Mikhail Odnoralov

Mikhail Nikolayevich Odnoralov / Levidov ((ロシア語:''Михаи́л Никола́евич Однора́лов / Леви́дов''), born 10 November 1944) was one of the famous Moscow nonconformist artists during the 1970s. He currently resides in New York City, USA.
==Biography==

* 1957 : Mikhail receives his early art lessons, attending Robert Falk private studio.
* 1958—1960 :He attends art school at Krasnaya Presnya, Moscow.
* 1966—1979 : many time throughout this period his paintings were exhibited at the Union of Moscow Artists shows.

Odnoralov was a participant of considerable events. He belonged to the next generation of the «Second Russian Avant-garde». Notwithstanding Mikhail was a member of the Soyuz Hudozhnikov, and exhibited his paintings at official exhibitions. His art studio from time to time was turned into a site of gathering for unadmitted artists to plan their next collective show or to discuss each other newly artworks.〔(Photo of the organizational meeting in Odnoralov's studio ), Moscow, a day before the «First Fall Outdoor Exhibition», September 14, 1974 (Mikhail stands second right).〕 He was shortly arrested for his active role in the Bulldozer Exhibition 1974, and soon after release his paintings have impressed crowds of viewers〔(Mikhail Odnoralov (center photo) shows viewers his paintings on «Second Fall Outdoor Art Show» ) in the Izmaylovsky Park, Moscow. September 29, 1974. 〕 a couple weeks later, in the Izmaylovsky Park.〔«Second Fall Outdoor Art Show», named «Russian Woodstock» for brave step to freedom (see the («TIME»; Monday, Oct. 14, 1974 ), Vol. 104, Issue 16, p. 76).〕
Soviet ideological regime keep Odnoralov on suspicion not mainly for content of the paintings (although the icons, depicting in his works clearly hinting at connections to the Russian religious philosophy,〔In a recent lecture in front of an American audience Mikhail Odnoralov recalls how impressed him (and even inspired to study Pavel Florensky philosophic works) performances of outstanding pianist Maria Yudina, which Odnoralov lucky was perceived. 〕 godless communist authorities didn't love), but chiefly for his uncensored social activity.〔«Другое искусство: Москва 1956—1976». Permanent pressing from KGB included, for example, a proposal to Odnoralov's neighbors, living nearby the artist's studio to write a denunciation that his guests disturb them to much.

Artist lives and works now in Lower East Side, New York.
